The ’67 movie about Bonnie and Clyde was an afront to the law and people they killed. The Highwaymen is an outstanding movie in both the factual storyline and the characters themselves. It’s like seeing things unfold through Ranger Hamer’s eyes because you don’t see Bonnie and Clyde’s faces until he does. It’s a great movie I plan on seeing tonight for the third time. I really enjoyed this podcast, your guest was outstanding, and if he wrote a book, I’d buy it. One question: Were the locations in The Highwaymen the actual locations the incidents occurred, as well as the towns in the movie?

Thank you! Dr. Ginn has a new book coming out July 11. It’s titled “East Texas Troubles: The Allred Rangers’ cleanup of San Augustine.” Also, check out the Former Texas Rangers Foundation’s Ranger Symposium on August 3 in Fredericksburg. You will recognize the MC’s voice and we will have a panel on the movie. The ambush scene was filmed in the exact spot the ambush occurred. If you come to the symposium, I’ll tell you a good and spooky story about the final filming that was told to me by the actor who played Clyde. Thank you again for listening to the show and be sure and send your topic suggestions to [email protected].

My wife was telling me not too long ago that I should try doing a “Texas History” podcast. I told her that one of her fellow Aggies was doing one that would cover pretty much the same content and that there was no way I could improve on it. My son and I enjoy listening to “Wise About Texas” and look forward to hearing more.

I am in the process of taking pictures and visiting old pioneer graveyards in the San Antonio area. If I find a good story along the way, I will pass it along to you.

    Keep up the great work!
