I found this to be an interesting and informative podcast. It effectively illustrates the huge shadow that the rangers cast over past and present Texas. These all sound like wonderful bicentennial events. Thank you.
Thanks for this Ranger series. As a youngster I was raised surrounded by famous Texas Rangers, as my grandfather was Texas Ranger Jim Geer and his first cousin was Ranger Stewart Stanley. I remember Rangers Bob Crowder and Jay Banks visiting our home on a regular basis, and recall the stories they told. I recall that my dad ( grandfather who raised me ) was very involved with the Texarkana Phantom murders., as well as other cases. He was lead criminal investigator for the Rangers in the late 1940’s and early 1050’s until his untimely death in 1955. These were giants among men, brave and greatly respected by all. I have donated many of my grandfather’s items to the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco, where they remain on display.
